Jane Domke

Jane Domke produces fused and slumped art glass. Each piece begins with cutting and constructing layers of hand-rolled art glass. The work is then placed in a very hot (up to 1600 degrees) kiln and fired using a complex schedule developed by the artist. Each piece of art may be cut and fired several times until the desired effect is achieved. Then many of the functional pieces go into a mold to ‘slump’ into the shape of plates, bowls, platters or vessels. Domke also incorporates a variety of objects in the glass, including precious metal leaf, driftwood, beads, wire and found objects. Her work ranges in size from coasters that measure 4" x 4" to 17" diameter bowls. Jane's work is priced from $42.00 - $250.00.
