Janice Ho

"Nature is the source of endless inspiration, whose forms I often simplify and stylize to make my own. My Chinese heritage serves as a strong, though in ways, unconscious influence on my work, through the philosophies I was raised with, and the aesthetics of the paintings, pottery, and other traditional objects that surrounded my daily life. A sense of simplicity and balance are defining elements of Asian art, and I seek to reflect these ideals in my work as well.

The excitement of jewelry and metalsmithing lie in the continuous learning and execution of techniques and processes. Designing primarily in silver and high-karat gold, I prefer working directly with the metal, mostly fabricating my pieces out of sheet and wire, but also casting wax carvings that are then combined with fabricated elements. Techniques I use include forging and piercing to define lines, roll printing adds texture, dapping and forming in a hydraulic press create dimension. I apply patinas and various surface finishes to further accentuate the beautiful tonal contrasts of the cools silver, and warm glowing golds." Please contact us for pricing.
